Amid Speculation, Silence Surrounds Marlboro Memorial Middle School

Publish date: 2024-07-07

Amidst heightened community tensions, the Marlboro School District addresses allegations of sexual misconduct against teacher Jenna Sciabica following their monthly board meeting Last Tuesday.

The Marlboro Memorial Middle school teacher allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a special needs 13 year old female student in the hallway of the school. A school employee witnessed the incident as well as it being caught on school cameras. The incident took place March 13th but was not reported to parents until hours later after the child returned back home. Her parents spoke at this past Tuesdays Board meeting.

According to the mother, the teacher had engaged in communication with her daughter through "sexualized" text messages, which came to light after the March 13th incident. The family's attorney, Nima Ameri, Esq., characterized the discussions about sleepovers and sexual topics as "grooming."

The teacher has since resigned and is no longer employed at the school. However, while the district claims it promptly took action to remove the teacher, the family asserts that the teacher was permitted to complete the school day and return the following day.

The board attorney, Marc Zitomer, went to the extent of writing a letter to the victim's parents, alleging fault on their part and criticizing their behavior as disturbing. What a clown world we live in.

During the Tuesday night meeting, the Board convened an executive session to initiate proceedings for the dismissal of the Board attorney.

The Marlboro Mayor put out the following statement Tuesday April 17th.

These individuals are supposed to be trusted adults! You entrust your child to them for eight hours a day, believing they are trustworthy. How many others are there? Our investigation has uncovered thousands of online stories. Why do these districts that are suppose to have our child’s best interest never place their safety as a priority?

When teachers can freely discuss topics like sexuality and gender identity without involving parents, it blurs boundaries with students. Also, some of the state's Sex Ed standards aren't age-appropriate, adding to the problem. We need to change these policies at the state level to ensure our kids' safety at school.

The unprecedented rise in homeschooling speaks volumes.

Marlboro Police Department is investigating this case. The family of the victim is suing the school in hopes to protect all children from this ever happening again.

As of today there have been no legal charges filed.

Adding to the tension there was a bomb threat today at the middle school.
